Day Two

Had to break it to Vanda that Day 2 didn't involve her (that's her nose in the bottom right). She was disappointed; I may have to make it up to her later with some fetch in the yard. After all, she is the fat one.

Day Two was 4 of 5 of the workouts on Core Fusion Body Sculpt. Holy Moly, this video kicks some booty. I picked it up for $8 at the Meijer's discount video bin - about the price of any class you might sign up for, so I'm thinking this was a good deal. I'll certainly look forward to doing this video once a week or so.

Its broken up into five 10 minute workouts that focus on a different body part.
- Part one was arms - had to use a couple of rocks since I have no dumbbells.
- Part two was legs and part three was "buns," both of which burned like I couldn't believe
- Part four was abs, and I have to admit I skipped over this one for today. I was pretty pooped from the first 30 minutes, and wanted to get to part 5 -
- Relaxing stretch! The best part of any workout, right?

Everything (but my abs) feel delightfully like rubber right now. Will see how sore I am tomorrow morning. The plan for Day Three is to hit the streets of Flint again with my girl V and try to run a little further than yesterday. Onward!

Day 1

Happy Saturday! Today, the planets aligned, and I decided to get my fat dog in shape. Oh, and me, too.

I'm starting on an adventure to publicly hold myself accountable for getting body and soul back into shape. Yes, how cliche!!

My goal is not to achieve a certain weight or body type. My goal is to get fit, feel strong, and accomplish something that for me is pretty intimidating - sticking with a difficult task for 90 days straight. I have to credit my friend Julia with planting the 90 day notion in my head. She is working on 90 days of yoga, an activity that I plan to make part of my repertoire.

I'm going to do something for at least 20 minutes (ideally more) everyday. And since I'm signed up for the Indianapolis Half Marathon in May, at least three days a week need to be a run. That's it!

So today was DAY 1! The two fat girls went for our first run of the year. With a snazzy app on the iPhone called iMapMyRun, I know that we ran a whopping 1.68 miles through the beautiful streets of Flint. This feat took 21:57, for a pace of 13 min/mile. Yikes! But that is okay, there is lots of room for improvement, right? I should note that we made two stops, one for Ms. V to do her dirty filthy business, and one to stop at Garibella Salon to make an appointment (for me!) for later this afternoon. So next time, fewer stops but a snazzy new do! See you tomorrow!!
